About The Daily Word
The Daily Word started as an email to family and friends: one New Testament verse a day, read across three languages, with the setting it was spoken in. Every verse page shows:
- Setting the scene: where this falls in Jesus' ministry (or, from Acts onward, who wrote it, where and for whom).
- Four witnesses: the Greek (SBLGNT), the Latin Vulgate, the King James Version and the English Standard Version.
- Key words, an alignment note on how closely the translations match, and a story from church history.
Translations and copyright
ESV verses quoted on this site so far: 4 (Crossway permits up to 500 verses on a website with its notice). Before reaching 500 we'll switch the modern English line to the NRSV (with permission) or a public-domain translation such as the Berean Standard Bible or World English Bible.
Pilgrimage Roads
The pilgrimage wiki compiles practical information from official and trusted sources. Every page lists its sources and a "last verified" date. Things marked ⚠ could not be fully confirmed: check them before you travel.
